Our German volunteer Yunes Abou El Wafa completed his 9-month service in India within our European Solidarity Corps, Humanitarian Aid project “HAND”, funded by the European Commission, coordinated by us, supported by our Irish partner Viatores Christi Company Limited by Guarantee (VC) and hosted by our Indian partner Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association (OSVSWA).
During his service, Yunes co-created and managed the SAFER Odisha Project from inception to the conclusion of the pilot phase of the project. His responsibilities encompassed everything related to project management, as well as supporting activities for other projects like graphic design and attending meetings and sharing his inputs. With SAFER Odisha they managed to create a local adaptation plan for a cluster of villages in rural Odisha. They engaged with the community to raise their voice and ensure they are heard and their interests and experiences are considered in the development planning of their villages.
With his activity, he developed himself on many levels, from professional development in project management and a better understanding of development cooperation to personal growth in conflict resolution, leadership and communication. Since he wants to work in the field of humanitarian action in the future, he believes that the professional competencies he gained from this activity will also be very useful. We would like to thank Yunes for his extraordinary efforts in his activities in India.
