What if cleaning a beach could also help us clean up the misinformation we see online?
As part of the YOURESET 2026 project, EPEKA Türkiye is bringing young people together in Sinop for two days of environmental action, media literacy and creativity!

️ 22 August | From Waste to Awareness
We will head to one of Sinop’s polluted beaches and take action together! Participants will clean the coastline, separate and examine the waste they collect, document the transformation through before-and-after photos and videos, and explore common misconceptions such as:
❌ “One plastic bottle doesn’t matter.”
❌ “The sea cleans itself.”
❌ “Individual actions cannot make a difference.”
But what do the facts actually tell us?

At EPEKA Türkiye, we will explore AI-generated content, fake news and environmental misinformation. How can we tell whether an environmental claim, image or video is trustworthy? Why does misinformation spread so quickly? And how can we become more responsible consumers — and creators — of digital content?
Then it’s time to get creative!
Participants will use the photos, videos and selected waste collected during the beach action to create:
Myth vs Fact awareness materials
Posters and social media content
♻️ Recycled and upcycled creations
Before-and-after videos and Reels
Fact-based environmental messages
Through YOURESET, we want young people not only to protect their environment, but also to question what they see online, verify information before sharing it and become active creators of trustworthy content.
Because a cleaner future needs both clean shores and clear minds.
