We went to Gerze in our third week of our European Solidarity Corps, Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas project “Sustainable Environment for the Aquatic Life – SEAL” funded by the European Commission. Accompanied by Sinop University Underwater Technology Department Lecturers Ömer Salih Aslan, Bora Eyüpoğlu, Recep Öztürk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Karslı, we carried out a scuba seabed cleaning at the Gerze pier with Sinop University Underwater Technology Department students and volunteers with diving badges from Spain, Jordan and Portugal. Gerze Mayor Osman Belovacıklı also joined our cleaning activities and supported us. Among the items that were pulled out of the sea were car tires, fishing nets, various household plastic and metal waste.
