Goksu Deniz Surmeli, who went to Romania with our European Solidarity Corps project “Time to Change”, which was approved by the Turkish National Agency and the European Commission, has completed her 10-month long volunteering and come back home. Goksu participated in the activities of our Romanian partner, Asociatia Forumul Cetatenesc pentru Actiune Sociala si Educatie Civica and learned Romanian language.
Here are Goksu’s impressions of Romania:
“I went to Romania with an ESC project in March 2020. I spent 10 months in Romania and I improved my foreign language skills a lot during my stay. I found a lot of time for drawing and digital drawing in Romania and met Romanian people and other volunteers who can draw and made so many drawings. I met people from different cultures and learned their cultures and presented them our culture. We fed the dogs in the yard of our hostel and took care of their needs. We made lessons-related drawing and painting on the walls of the school in Dragaşani, where we live. Therefore we made the pupils learn in more colorful attractive classrooms with a happier mood. Each week, we organised regular sports activities and trekkings in the nature. I tried to fullfill all my time with full of action with the other volunteers.”
