Here is the garbage we collected from Hamsiyolu, Sarıkum, Kurtkuyusu, Bayramboğazı, Gerze coast, Karakum beach with scuba diving, Sinop pier area, Sinop breakwater, Gerze pier area and Gerze port area within the scope of our Volunteer Teams in High Priority Regions project funded by the European Commission, funded by the European Solidarity Programme “Sustainable Environment for the Aquatic Life – SEAL”. First of all, we would like to thank Sinop University Underwater Technology Department Lecturers Ömer Salih Aslan, Bora Eyüpoğlu, Recep Öztürk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Karslı for their efforts and for enabling us to carry out scuba diving safely, Sinop Mayor Metin Gürbüz for their support, Gerze Mayor Osman Belovacıklı and our dear volunteers who worked devotedly in our cleaning activities despite the heat and humidity. Our aim was to raise awareness, to prevent our sea from becoming a garbage dump, to preserve the continuity of the ecosystem and to commemorate the extinct Black Sea monk seal. We hope that we have helped enlighten a society to protect our nature.
