Cleaning with scuba in Karakum

The third week of our European Solidarity Corps, Volunteering Teams in High Priority Areas project “Sustainable Environment for the Aquatic Life – SEAL”, funded by the European Commission, started with a scuba diving seabed cleaning. Accompanied by Sinop University Underwater Technology Department Lecturers Ömer Salih Aslan, Bora Eyüpoğlu, Recep Öztürk and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Karslı, we cleaned Karakum Beach with Sinop University Underwater Technology Department students and diving badged volunteers from Spain, Jordan and Portugal. The garbage found included car tires, beverage cans and a lot of plastic waste.
