Our volunteer Kezban Çitak, who went to Bosnia and Herzegovina within our ESC Humanitarian Aid project “HAND”, funded by the European Commission and hosted by our Bosnian partner, Bosnian Representative Association for Valuable Opportunities (BRAVO), completed her 7-month volunteering service in Sarajevo.
During her volunteering, Kezban worked in the Blažuj and Ušivak Camps, which are the temporary reception centres for the refuges. She worked in the warehouse of the refugee camps. She helped to prepare the packages called welcome package, which included hygiene and clean clothes. When new materials came to the warehouse, she helped in the organization and transportation of these materials. She helped IOM staff in the distribution of blankets and the welcome packages. In the camp, there were refugees from Turkey, Syria and Afghanistan who came to Bosnia via Türkiye and some of them spoke Turkish. So she helped to translate Turkish into English. She helped with the environmental cleaning activity in the camp. She participated in environmental cleaning with other refugees in the camp. She took part in cleaning the dormitories where refugees stayed in the camp. She took part in placing refugees in smaller quarters.
Kezban also worked at the elderly centre. She involved in creative and handicraft workshops. She helped with regular cleaning and maintaining hygiene. She took tasks on the maintenance of the garden. She helped with cleaning at important events at the centre for Healthy Aging. She also took Bosnian language classes.
We would like to thank Kezban for all her dedication in her work.
