EPEKA is in Portugal!

Our organization, Egitim Programları ve Evrensel ve Kültürel Aktiviteler Derneği, sent 2 participants – Oktay Kuru and Saadet Alparslan – to be part in the training course “Sports: All aboard” that takes place in Portugal between 21st to 29th July 2019 and will involve 30 participants (youth workers and people with disabilities) from 8 different countries (Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Hungary & Lithuania).
The main objective of this training is the promotion of adapt sport for people with disabilities (physical, sensory or mental) and to celebrate the diversity of the disability approach in the various partner countries. It aims also to promote personal and social participation of the participants, increasing their self-esteem and motivation to stimulate young people with disabilities to practice sport to improve their quality of life and well-being.
Participants will have the opportunity to have direct contact with this target group, which will facilitate real knowledge of their differences and similarities, using sport as an integration tool, spreading the image of Sports for all.
During the training will occur workshops, group dynamics and sport activities like Boccia, Volleyball, Athletics and Goalball.
Participants of this training will have the opportunity to contact with young Portuguese practitioners of these sport.
There will be also an opportunity to exchange their culture and to learn more about the Portuguese culture as well.
At the end of the Training it is intended that participants have acquired enough knowledge for sporting adapted in their countries and give them instruments to sensitize their organizations and local authorities to support initiatives of this scope.
This international Training is part of the Erasmus + program, funded by the European Commission.
